Inspiring Healthy Choices Through Hands-On Learning

At Career Point Gurukul Rajsamand, we believe in nurturing not only the minds but also the health and well-being of our students. In line with this vision, a two-day Sugar Awareness Program was organized to educate students about the impact of excessive sugar consumption and empower them to make healthier lifestyle choices.

Day 1: Interactive Learning Through Activities

Classes 3 to 5 kick-started the program with the Sugar Board Activity, where students enthusiastically created colorful and informative boards. With cut-outs of healthy and unhealthy food items, they showcased the hidden sugar in everyday snacks and drinks. This hands-on project helped students visually understand the difference between nutritious foods and sugar-laden treats.

For Classes 6 to 8, a more analytical activity called Snack Sugar Shockers was conducted. Students researched the sugar content in popular snacks and beverages and presented their findings along with calorie counts. The activity was an eye-opener, helping them realize how much sugar is hidden in seemingly harmless treats like juices, packaged snacks, and desserts.

Day 2: Awareness Through Multimedia & Creativity

A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation was organized for students from Classes 3 to 8, highlighting the ill effects of excessive sugar intake. With the help of animated visuals and real-life examples, students learned how overconsumption of sugar can lead to Obesity, Diabetes, Dental issues, and other lifestyle diseases. The session was engaging, age-appropriate, and sparked thoughtful conversations in classrooms.

For Classes 9 and 10, the highlight of the day was the No Bake, No Sugar Cooking Activity. Students worked in teams to create tasty and healthy snacks using natural sweeteners like fruits, dates, jaggery, and honey – completely avoiding refined sugar and baking. The activity brought out creativity, team spirit, and a deeper understanding of how delicious healthy food can be!

A Step Towards a Healthier Future

The two-day Sugar Awareness Program was a grand success, not only spreading crucial knowledge about sugar and its impact but also inspiring students to become more mindful eaters. It encouraged them to read food labels, think critically about what they consume, and choose balanced and healthier alternatives.

Such activities are a part of our holistic approach to education at Career Point Gurukul Rajsamand, where we aim to instill values of health, awareness, and self-care from a young age.
